Pierre Menager’s Murals Painted in 1937 Joesler House: The Kitchen

Here is the small mural in the old kitchen — over the stove no less! I love the charming look of the either Franciscan or Dominican style monk — pan and spoon in hand. Pierre was himself quite a good cook, sharing in the cooking duties when he was with Rosalie Murphy of Santa Fe's Pink Adobe Restaurant. (I remember as a child seeing the menus he illustrated — and would love to find one again!). The pictures here are the before and after of a kitchen renovation that saved the mural and placed it behind a glass painting by local artist Chrissy Goral (so no grease splatters!). (Click on the images to see larger versions. Go here to see previous post of murals painted in the Arizona Room of this house. )
